An extended family group travelling with children in Nepal could test the hospitality of the most genial host, but the staff at Shivapuri Cottage made us feel like Royalty.

Shivapuri Heights Cottages offer beautiful, rustic surroundings in a serene hill location on the edge of a national park. It was very affordable and comes highly recommended by us! We were a family of four with two teenagers and we came to Shivapuri Heights after a 2-week trek in the Khumbu region. We were picked up in Kathmandu and driven 40 minutes to the cottage where staff welcomed us warmly. We were delighted with the unique character of the place and there was plenty of space for everyone. Our comforts were more than catered for, we had privacy and the food was cooked as we liked by an excellent chef. Breakfast involved sitting in an outdoor courtyard surrounded by a charming garden, with views over the hills and distant city. A forty-minute wander takes you through lively streets and lush paddocks, rising up towards Shivapuri National Park where you can walk in shade and peace. It is also home to exotic birds and animals, including leopards and bears. Our children loved the place as much as we did!
